Basically the internet works by 'ringing' your internet service provider from dialer software on your computer, this software calls an access number and connects you to the internet.
Once connected to the net you then use a web browser like Mozilla FireFox to search for websites, you can either type in the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in the web browsers address box usually located at the top of the page or you can go to a search engine like Google and type in key words that the search engine will then use to find you pages realted to the key words entered.
